The SLR McLaren, introduced in November 2003, was Mercedes-Benz’s foray into the world of the supercar, alongside such automobiles as the Porsche Carrera GT and the Ferrari Enzo. It was developed in collaboration with the McLaren Technology Centre, which, at the time, was partially owned by Mercedes. In 2007, Mercedes introduced the SLR McLaren Roadster, adding even more fanfare to Mercedes’ high-end sports car. Fortunately for the SLR Roadster, when removing the roof, the “swing-wing” doors remain hinged to the A-pillars rather than the roof itself. After being manually unlatched, the roof takes just 10 seconds to fold into—quick enough to be done at a stop light. Not only did the roadster provide owners with the same performance and usability as the coupe, but it also allowed them to hear the SLR’s glorious exhaust note, which many thought to be the best facet of the car.
The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster we are offering here is chassis WDD1994761M001844. Tastefully finished in silver with red leather to the interior, it is a desirable European example -supplied new to Portugal- and registered for the first time on January 2009. Maintained exclusively by authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership, as evidenced in the service book, WDD1994761M001844 was driven by its first owner a mere 20,000 km until it was acquired by its second and current owner in 2016. Since then the car was driven an additional 2,360 km, totaling today 22,360 km. The car also benefits from a fresh, 15,000 EUR service as of March 2019 and is presented in pristine original, unmolested condition throughout.
The SLR McLaren Roadster is already a classic and represents a great addition to any modern super car collection!
