Unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and launched in very limited production the year after, the Disco Volante is arguably one of the most accomplished designs by Carrozzeria Touring in recent decades. The model is named after the 1952 Alfa Romeo 1900 C52 Disco Volante, an experimental sports racing car which was regarded back in its days as a true avant-garde project. Based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, it took Touring’s craftsmen a mere 4,000 hours and over 6 months to create the new Disco Volante with unique specifications. The engine remains the same with a truly efficient 4.7 / 450 bhp Ferrari designed V8 and its six-speed sequential paddle-shift transmission. The interior would also be completely re-trimmed, using the finest leather materials.
Handpicked top clients only could get the chance of owning one of the eight Coupes and one of the seven Spyders, which made a very limited total of just 15 units!
The Disco Volante Spyder we are offering here is chassis ZAR92000000050451 and is the 7th of 7 cars built, which makes it the last of this very limited series. Ordered new in a very elegant red metallic, the interior is harmoniously finished with a combination of both black Alcantara and leather, detailed with light stitching all-round the seats and headrests, contrasting with the upholstery. The carbon details on the body bring a very elegant, yet sporty touch to the whole car.
This Disco Volante Spyder comes with its own and extensive bespoke luggage set, custom car cover, tools and all books. It has only had one registered keeper from new. Today, the total mileage is 3530 km and the car has been serviced by authorized Maserati dealers, in line with Alfa Romeo guidelines.
This exquisite example is available immediately and would be a great addition to any sophisticated collection!
